Welcome to davidscotts.blog.

If you haven’t figured out yet,  I’m David, but a lot of my friends call me “Dave”.

I’ve been married to my wife for 29 years now.

I have five sons, aged 18 to 23.

I’ve been a small business owner for 20 years.

I’m also a rugby player, coach, mentor, mechanic, learner, and sometimes teacher.

When I hit 50 (2016) I found myself meditating on the lyrics of “Once In A Lifetime” (Talking Heads):

And you may find yourself
Living in a shotgun shack
And you may find yourself
In another part of the world
And you may find yourself
Behind the wheel of a large automobile
And you may find yourself in a beautiful house
With a beautiful wife
And you may ask yourself, well
How did I get here?

How does a man manage his midlife crisis these days? Heck if I know, but I plan on sharing mine with you. My successes, my failures, what I’m looking forward to, and where I’ve been.

Hopefully, together we can be help each other become

  • Better husbands
  • Better fathers
  • Better men

Young men, take heed. Old men give wisdom. Middle-aged men…have mercy.
